Days 1:
Nairobi to Lake Naivasha
Your adventure begins as you depart Nairobi after breakfast with your Kabiru Tours guide. The drive descends into the Great Rift Valley, offering spectacular panoramic views at the escarpment lookout point. You arrive at your lakeside lodge on the shores of Lake Naivasha by midday. After settling in, you embark on your first activity: a serene boat ride on the lake. You glide past hippo pods, watch African fish eagles swoop for prey, and observe countless waterbirds. As the sun sets, you enjoy a welcome dinner with the sounds of the lake in the background.
Day 2:
Hell's Gate National Park and Elsamere Visit
After an early breakfast, you take a short drive to Hell’s Gate National Park, one of the few parks in Kenya where you can explore on foot or by bicycle. You choose your adventure cycling or a guided walk through dramatic cliff-lined valleys, past geothermal steam vents, and among grazing zebras, giraffes, and antelopes. You visit iconic sites like Fischer’s Tower and the narrow gorge. In the afternoon, you visit Elsamere, the former home of conservationist Joy Adamson, for tea and to learn about her work with lions. You return to your Lake Naivasha lodge for relaxation and dinner.
Day 3:
Crescent Island And Naivasha Exploration
Today offers a more relaxed pace. After breakfast, you take a short boat transfer to Crescent Island Sanctuary for a unique walking safari. You stroll alongside giraffes, waterbucks, zebras, and countless bird species in this predator-free peninsula sanctuary. The afternoon is yours to enjoy lodge amenities, take an optional nature walk along the lake’s riparian land. You later spend another peaceful evening at your lakeside accommodation.
Day 4:
Lake Naivasha to Mount Longonot – Volcanic Ascent
You bid farewell to Lake Naivasha after breakfast and drive to the base of Mount Longonot National Park. Armed with water and your guide’s encouragement, you begin the ascent up this dormant volcano. The hike is challenging but rewarding, taking you through dry forest to the crater’s rim, where you are greeted with awe-inspiring 360-degree views of the Rift Valley and the forested crater floor 300 meters below. After completing the hike, you check into a comfortable lodge near the mountain to rest your legs and enjoy a well-earned dinner.
Day 5:
Mount Longonot to Crater Lake Game Sanctuary
Following a leisurely breakfast, you depart for the hidden gem of Crater Lake Game Sanctuary. You arrive at your exclusive tented camp, uniquely situated within the sanctuary itself. In the afternoon, you set out on a guided walking safari around the stunning, mineral-rich crater lake. The sanctuary is a birder’s paradise, with over 150 species recorded, and you may also spot giraffes, zebras, and monkeys. The alkaline waters change color with the light, creating a magical setting. You enjoy sundowners with a spectacular view before a private dinner under the stars.
