4-Day Nairobi Safari

Your urban safari begins upon arrival in Nairobi. After settling into your boutique hotel in the serene  suburbs, your first encounter is with some of Africa’s most graceful creatures. You visit the Giraffe Centre, a conservation success story for the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe. Here, you ascend a raised platform to come eye-to-eye with these gentle giants, offering them specially prepared pellets and learning about their preservation from expert staff. The afternoon is at your leisure to relax or explore local artisan shops before a welcome dinner.

Your morning is devoted to one of Kenya’s most beloved conservation experiences. You arrive at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for the public viewing hour. You watch as playful baby elephants, rescued from across the country, trot in for their morning bottle feeding and mud bath, each with a unique story of survival. The keepers provide fascinating insights into their rehabilitation and the ultimate goal of reintegration into the wild. In the afternoon, you enter Nairobi National Park. A game drive across its plains reveals a stunning paradox: herds of zebra, Wildebeest, and majestic lions with Nairobi’s skyline visible on the horizon. You visit the Animal Orphanage within the park to see other rescued species up close.

You trade the city for panoramic highland adventures. A short drive brings you to the base of the Ngong Hills, the iconic ridges immortalized in Karen Blixen’s writings. You embark on a guided hike along the crest of the hills, where the wind turbines spin against an endless sky. The effort is rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views over the Great Rift Valley to one side and the Nairobi metropolis to the other. In the afternoon, you dive into history at the Karen Blixen Museum, set in the author’s former coffee plantation home, or explore contemporary Kenyan art at a local gallery. The evening offers a chance to enjoy renowned Nairobi cuisine.

Your final day is dedicated entirely to an immersive exploration of Nairobi National Park, beginning with an early morning game drive through the Athi Basin and Kitengela Conservation Area in search of lions, cheetahs, and black rhinos, followed by a scenic picnic breakfast. The adventure continues with a mid-morning visit to the Mbagathi River and Hyena Dam to observe hippos and crocodiles, a leisurely lunch, and a final afternoon game drive across diverse landscapes seeking leopards, buffalo and giraffes, ending with  unforgettable memories of wildlife against an urban skyline before a timely transfer to your hotel.
